Mount Washington is located in the Eastern edge of the Vancouver Island Mountain Ranges bordering the famous Strathcona Provincial Park and Forbidden Plateau backcountry hiking area. With a fully paved and BC Highway maintained road, it is one of the only places you can access all week during the winter. At the mountain you can ski, snowboard, tube, sled, snowshoe, build snow shelters and even use the Raven Lodge as a starting point for a multi-day ski or snowshoe tour into Strathcona Park.

As we operate our programs 100% outside and often in wilderness environments, it is essential that all families pack all items on our packing list. Failing to do so may compromise your childs safety and experience.

We believe that youth programming should be safe, fun and staffed by the best people in the industry.
"My kids had an excellent spring ski camp with Landon. He created a plan, coordinated with the resort, and gave us lots of feedback. His technical knowledge, energy and sense of fun worked really well with the kids."

Mount Washington Ski Resort is located just west of Courtenay/Comox on the western edge of the Comox Valley, approximately 3 hours drive from Victoria, BC. Known for its high snowfall (Mount Washington's skied snow base commonly exceeds over 400cm by season's end) and mild temperatures, it is Vancouver Islands premier full service ski resort. The hill offers a huge variety of run types - groomers, steeps, mougles, glades and of course, the terrain park. The resort has slopes for all abilitiy levels, from beginner to expert. In fact, Mount Washington has some of the best beginner teaching areas and services (covered carpet lifts) in all of Western Canada, as well as one of the largest ski schools. Normally, WEA does the majority of program instruction, however, Mount Washington only allows their instructors to teach on their resort. All Mount Washington kids ski lessons are taught by their snow school.
Our Pro-D Day Winter Skills program is designed to expose kids to the snowy, winter environment that they don't often get to experience. They get to do activities like build snow forts, go snowshoeing, learn about winter survival & safety, light winter fires and more! This program is a very long day, as depedning on weather, it may take a few hours to get to the snow!
Modern youth do not get very many opportunities to learn life skills including how to lead others, manage conflict and think for themselves. Western Education Adventure’s winter Pro-D Day programs focus specifically on these skills.
This is a list of the main activities we may run during a winter Pro-D Day program. Activities depend on the main focus of the program that day and may vary from camp to camp:
• Leadership • Decision Making • Conflict Management • Group Management • Winter Safety • Layering • Mountain Safety • Route Planning • Route Planning • Navigation • Skiing • Camping Practices • Fire building • Knife and Stove Safety
Western Educational Adventures takes safety seriously. Not only do we want our participants to have an exceptional time, but just as importantly, we want them to return home safe and sound.
